What is a home inspection? A home inspection is a physical examination of the property to identify material defects in the home. Home inspections should take about 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours. Home inspector should look at all the systems present with the property; structural integrity and safety issues should be a concern when purchasing a home. Eves, gates, pools, hot water heaters (new laws that may force you to update before selling) your home inspector should be able to advice you on new laws and requirements.

How should you prepare for a home inspection? As the seller you should have the property fully accessible, including items that may be blocking receptacles, and access points. Areas of concern are attics, electrical panels, closet spaces, garages, gates/ landscaping, water heaters. Remember to leave all utilities on until final walk-through is completed and buyer is satisfied with operating systems.
